OpusClip Review: An Honest Look at the AI Clipping Tool
It's an editor, not a creator.
OpusClip only works with footage you've already shot — here's what that means before you commit.

Honest Review of OpusClip

Pros
A genuinely useful repurposing engine: it turns long-form video into multiple short clips and scores each one for how likely it is to perform.
A real editing toolkit built in, including hook generation, AI emojis, keyword highlights, and smart transitions.
Lets you save edits, download them, and render later; a handy workflow many other platforms skip.
A solid reputation to back it up: 4.6/5 on G2 (118 reviews) and 4.0/5 'Great' on Trustpilot (438 reviews).
Reasonably priced for what it does, starting at $15/month for AI clipping, multi-language captions, and auto-posting.

Cons
It's an editor, not a creator: it needs an existing video file or link, and can't generate content from a script, image, or URL.
No blank-canvas option; you can only edit clips pulled from footage you've already produced.
AI-curated clips can miss the mark, with auto-selected B-roll that doesn't match your actual content.
Real users report the value has shrunk over time, with daily credits that used to be included now pulled from paid plans.
Complaints about broken renders and slow support persisting for months without resolution.

Starter Plan
OpusClip Starter runs $15/month for 150 credits (per-clip ratio unconfirmed), and Pro runs $29/month, or $14.50/month billed annually, for 3,600 credits/year. Both require existing footage to start. Tagshop's Starter plan is $23-24/month for roughly 5 finished videos, generated from just a script, image, or URL, with no footage required, 75+ languages, and a 4.9/5 G2 rating from 143 reviews.
OpusClip Reviews: What Users Actually Report
Tried messaging for help, tried asking mod help on discord, tried submitting multiple versions of clip as their troubleshoot page asks for and I'm just wasting credits and getting no help. They've now ignored their customers while still trying to grow and easily get money but ignore you once you have paid up subscription.
They used to give you 200 daily credits, but now they took that from paid members... Videos break all the time... I have reached out to them 12 times about their broken product for months and have yet to get a response.
Note: OpusClip replied on-record requesting more information to help resolve this.
More Reasons Why You Need a Switch
OpusClip is a capable editor, but it comes with real limits worth knowing
before you build your workflow around it.

OpusClip can't help you without existing video; there's no way to generate a clip from a script, image, or idea alone.

There's no option to create a presenter or voice from scratch; you're limited to editing the footage and voice you already recorded.

Users report previously-included daily credits being pulled back from paid plans, along with broken renders and slow support.

AI-curated clips and auto-selected B-roll don't always match your actual content, leaving you to manually fix mismatches.
